Dept SIM is a free, browser-based discrete-event simulator of emergency department operations. By using it you agree to these terms.
Informational use only
Dept SIM is an educational and exploratory tool. Its outputs are simulations built on synthetic data and stated assumptions — not predictions, medical advice, or a substitute for professional judgment. Do not use it as the sole basis for staffing, clinical, or operational decisions affecting real patients or departments.
Your account and content
- Accounts are optional and free; saving SIMs is what they enable.
- The SIMs you save are yours. We store them so you can retrieve them, and we don't use them for anything else.
- Don't put real patient information into the simulator. It has no fields intended for it, and it isn't built to hold it.
- Model sheets and floor plans carry aggregate operational data only — volumes, staffing, room counts, hours, the shape of the unit — never patient-level information of any kind. You are responsible for having the right to upload your department's figures and plans.
- Reasonable-use limits apply (currently 50 saved SIMs, 10 floor plans and 300 KB per floor plan per account) and may change with notice.
- We may remove uploaded content that violates these terms.
No warranty
Dept SIM is provided "as is," without warranties of any kind. We may change, suspend, or discontinue features at any time. To the maximum extent permitted by law, we are not liable for decisions made in reliance on simulation outputs or for loss of saved data — export anything you can't afford to lose.
Termination
We may suspend accounts that abuse the service. You can stop using Dept SIM at any time and ask us to delete your account.
